Antique Victorian Glass 'Bride's Bowl'

A ‘bride’s basket’ or ‘bride’s bowl’ was the luxury wedding gift for a bride on her wedding day in the late 19th century. Used by flower girls to scatter petals down the aisle and placed on the main table during receptions to display the bridal bouquet, they were often silver with a glass bowl insert like this one.

This lovely bride’s bowl has a cranberry overlay fading to pink and then opaque white with a ruffled and crimped outer edge. There is a pontil mark on the bottom. It’s in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks. There is one very small white spot near the rim (see second photo).
