Oaxacan Black Pottery Pitcher
This rare and beautiful pottery pitcher is from the studio of renowned Mexican ceramics artisan, Doña Rosa (1900-1980). She is known for inventing a local pottery technique called 'barro negro' that made the clay shiny and black after firing. The piece has a lovely organic shape with a flower and bird design and stunning finish.
Signed by Doña Rosa on the bottom. Markings also show 'SB (San Bartolo) Coyotepec Oaxaca Mexico'.
In good vintage condition. Approximately 6.5" tall (to the top of the handle).
